An American Pit Bull Terrier is a remarkable and an admirable pet. It is very common to have a false account about these dogs as being quarrelsome and violent creatures. The truth is that they are very friendly and energetic. They make great play mates and are a pleasure to be treasured as a long term companion.

Some of the cities in America and countries who have made it a law not to keep a Pit Bull as a pet or a guard dog. Before you decide to go for this breed, you should be well informed about what laws prevail in your area to avoid any legal action. When in public places, you might need to keep a guard of straps or wires placed over the nose and mouth of your pet for safety. In addition, you might also need to get insurance for keeping it as a pet.

It is the best practice to either get your dog enrolled in a training school or if it is feasible, you might get an expert at home. A skilful trainer will teach your dog the right techniques and makes it do what is being told. It will learn how to carry an order and ensures a responsible treatment towards everyone. Even though you might not have children at home, this is mandatory. It is your responsibility as an owner to maintain an undamaged and positive environment at home.

When your pet gets choked and stertorous, try your best to ease them in such a condition. There are several ways to cool it down, when it gets over stimulated. Take him near the air conditioner or a pedestal fan. You can also wet his underside with water which will make it feel relaxed.
 
These points have to be kept in mind always and most importantly during summers as it is obligated to be very hot. It would be best if you take your pet for a long walk or any physical activity during earlier day or in the evening, when the heat is not scorching. This would avoid any over exhaustion for both you and your dog.

You would have bought a dog thinking that it would give you company and security, however, the fact is even they need you. They depend on you for love and companionship as you put efforts for making them an intrinsic part of your life. A Pit Bull would certainly bond well when you make them feel cherished and substantial.
